REVIEW: Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow (Bad to the Bronze / On and On Bronze)

This is arguably the most popular cream eyeshadow of the moment, or at least, within the last year.

I avoided these for the longest time, mostly because of the hype.  When I did finally bite the bullet, Tough As Taupe only satisfied, not overwhelm.
However, seeing how I'm in love with limited edition shade, Barely Beige (my review), I decided to give this one a shot.

Please note that these cream eyeshadows have different names in Europe.  The North American name is Bad to the Bronze.  Its European name is On and On Bronze.

As these are commonly considered a dupe for MAC paint pots, it's no surprise that the glass jar and plastic screw top packaging is familiar, too.

Sexy single-swipe swatch:

Colour:

  • warm bronze
  • reminds me a bit of UD Suspect
  • satin finish sheen
  • super pigmented (You can do the natural or fully smoked out look with this product)

Texture/Consistency:

  • creamy
  • smooth

Wear:

  • no creasing
  • no fading
  • no fallout
  • no smudging
  • wears all day (I wouldn't recommend wearing any makeup for up to 24 hours...)
  • sets/dries quickly

How I wear it:

I like the everyday, natural look, so I would barely dab my ring finger into the product and then dab it all over my lid.  I apply slightly more product on my crease and outer corner.  I do each eye separately, because it sets pretty quickly.

Verdict:

  • smooth and creamy
  • nice packaging (doesn't feel cheap)
  • great bargain at $7-10 in the drugstore
  • shit-ton of product -- Will last you forever
  • not unique colour, but flattering across many skin tones
Something else that makes me (significantly) love this product is that it's a slightly warmer and cream version of my beloved Burberry Rosewood eyeshadow (my review):
Top:  Maybelline Bad to the Bronze
Bottom:  Burberry Rosewood

  1. I have Bad to the Bronze and love using it as a base under most of the shadows in the UD Naked palette. I'm thinking of picking up the Gold Rush version next, I have heard great things about that one too!

    1. Yea, Bad to the Bronze definitely fits well into the colour scheme of UD Naked!

Gold Rush looks great, but I'm skipping on it because I already have the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Goldmine. Plus, I don't wear gold too often as it's quite stark on me. One gold is enough to satisfy for the days when I'm feeling more adventurous, haha.
